2021, the Year of the “Anti-Diet”
On CBS news the other morning, their health and wellness section proclaimed that 2021 is the year of the “anti diet” and all I have to say is…finally!
Many of you know that diets do not work, they lead to restriction, bingeing, negative body image, and shame. Rigid rules around food are not the sustainable solution many of us seek when we try to become healthier and feel our best.
If you are ready to find food freedom, have peace at meal times, and remove objective language around food then get on board for the anti diet year and follow my tips for success.
Practice intuitive eating: this practice requires you to step back into your body to determine hunger cues. This practice takes time and develops with consistency. Read more here.
Remove labels from foods: No food is good or bad; however, there may be better choices that leave you feeling energized. By labelling foods good or bad, we put them on a pedestal and are more likely to loose control around them.
Keep your fridge stocked with your favorite fruits and vegetables: Having healthy foods around will help with choosing healthy snacks that leave you feeling satisfied and keep you on track to feeling your best.
Remove shame around glutinous meals: you are allowed to eat a cheeseburger and fries or have a cocktail after a long week of work. Food is intimately woven into society, culture, religion, celebration, and can be deeply emotional. If certain foods excite you, please enjoy them!
Until Next Time,
Morgan
